The Carb Shop

DON't LEAVE YOUR CLASSIC ON THE CURB WAITING FOR CARBS

There's nothing worse than getting to the end of your restoration only to leave it unfinished because the last few parts are at a shop, waiting in line, leaving your car off the road for the foreseeable future. Here at Black Forest, we set up our 190SL Solex carburetor restoration and repair workshop to prevent that.

We've always got pristine cores on-hand, ready for install, just waiting for your project to come in.
No waiting, just get what you need to get your classic back on the road.

Above you can see the grit that has built up on the right versus the smooth, shiny surface on the left following multiple rounds of sanding and polishing. Replacing a gasket can only do so much when the surface of the metal itself no longer allows a tight fit.

MORE THAN JUST A DEEP CLEAN

Many shops have a questionable definition of restoration, simply doing a deep clean and maybe removing and replacing some gaskets that are easy to reach.

At
Black Forest we tear the whole thing down, file down the buildup, strip and replate parts, and repair or reproduce any part that doesn't meet our standards. This is not a couple hours with a brush wiping away grime. This is a total rebuild of an essential aspect of your classic's performance.

THE CARB EXCHANGE

We've set up our shop to keep things moving. If you've got a Solex carburetor, we'll have restored cores waiting for you. Send your current set in and, as long as they're in reasonable shape, we can exchange them with our restored cores so you don't have to wait around.

High-quality restoration at set prices without waiting? If you can beat that we'd love to know how.

SURFACING AND MACHINING

Above you can see a few of the surfaces that regularly wear down from use over decades. The shiny areas indicate contact while the darker areas show that the surface has warped and no longer creates a tight seal. Without resurfacing these parts your carburetor would continue operating poorly despite any other cleaning and restoration work,

DON't OVER COMPLICATE IT

The bottom line is that carburetors are complicated and you won't be happy with your restoration if you try to cut corners. You're not gonna find a quick fix or easy tune-up, but our exchange gets you working carbs as quickly as possible and streamlines an often overlooked and unappreciated aspect of the restoration process.

Our Solex Carburetor Exchange Program
gets you working carbs without the wait.
Simple enough?
